Title:
Fidget Dialogue.
Statement:
Our project began as an investigation into why people make music by slapping their thighs, stomach and other parts of their body. A conclusion which we tactically drew was that it comes from an individual's impulse to fidget when idle. We decided to elaborate on this reasoning by producing an object which borrows the body language of this process and lends it to a digital medium. From this, Fidget Dialogue takes the solitude action of fidgeting and renders it as a collaborative performance.
The object uses piezo sensors to affect tonal pitch and tempo, which is then averaged between two sensors per pitch or tempo to create a more controlled sound.
